an open letter to xiaxue

While I can access blogspot sites from China, I cannot post comments. I apologize for this indulgence. Below the fold, an open letter to XiaXue.

Dear Wendy;
I said I had posted my final statement on SPG’s photo and I have. This post is only peripherally related to SPG. Its main target is your site - XiaXue.

Like SPG’s site, your website is also a guilty pleasure in my RSS reader. I had some, at least a few millimetres, of respect for you Wendy. I still do, but its a bit less after your post today.

Wendy, although I find your blog vacuous, even for an Ang Moh I find it is occasionally funny. Most importantly, it has expanded the boundaries of what is acceptable in Singapore. That is a good thing.

I’m not always Stephen-level political and hypercritical, nor am I am I always ‘infantile’ like messrs. brown and Miyagi. No, I’m hypercritical, political and infantile simultaneously. I’m a tall skinny Singa-bloody-mrbrown-with-my-very-own-glob(s).

However, Wendy, for you to slam SPG for being an attention-seeking woman with the “courage to be labelled as a term which most sneer at” seems more than a little hypocritical.

After all, you are best known globally for a post on how to measure a man’s penis with your hands.

Your whining breast-envy post, possibly prompted by SPG’s sudden surge in traffic, encouraged me to revisit those amusing comments and prompts me to suggest that you (again) get a grip!

You can be amusing, but you really shouldn’t try to stake a moralistic high ground. SPG is proud of her body and her writings. The general consensus is that her writings are better than yours. I won’t digress to compare your other assets. But, trust me, you wouldn’t want me to.

You were offensive and I’d like you to apologize.

My name is Myrick. I live in a glass house and my favourite hobby is throwing stones.

    hahahaaa..too right!!!

  5. Chris S Says:

Singapore blogging scene is becoming a cheap soap opera.

    Priceless.

  6. ace Says:

Tweety u sux! Dont judge the entire Singapore just after seeing a few s’pore written blog~

WHo are u to judge whether S’pore blogging scene is becoming like what?

    CHEAPO TWEETY

  7. Sneakpeak Says:

ace, you might want to correct ur comment :p. and perhaps apologize to tweety. lol

i read xiaxue, this pundit do-gooder, mr brown and miyagi, propagandhi, blablabla etc etc.

ok, some are good. but puh-leese, can’t those newspaper find anything other than the blogs as their story? doesn’t singapore have other more important news than the bloggers?

i’m suspicious that it’s the newspaper’s (old media) way of making the bloggers (new media) turning on each other.

    newspaper: MWAHAHAHAHAA.
    blogger 1: u stink blogger 2
    blogger 2: no, u stink
    newspaper: headline ‘BLOGGER 1 & 2 STINKS’

  8. dark gal Says:

    hey respect pls.

there are alot of newspapers from singapore like in any other countries.Strait times and lian he zao bao are the more formal and informative ones with the neutral stance, Newpaper and the Wan baos are the more gossipy ones.Just like how some are fashion magazines and some are magazines full of gossip about stars. Each have their own range of readers, and singapore is not be judged by that.it is a phenomenon seen in evry country.Who says singapore is conservative? it depends on the individual actually..being asian, of course, most wld appear conservative.

Blogs belong to the blog owners.they don’t need your consent to write or comment on anything. If you want to find any thing mentioned abt xaixue or spg, there are probably tons around on the internet.Xiaxue happened to be the more prominent one.no point picking on her.i am not helping xiaxue, neither am i her fan.Same for spg, she just wanted to express her views online, and she is an intelligent person actually. If you cant take anything on their blogs then dun read.you have a choice.afterall it’s for entertainment purposes, why do you take it at such a personal level?

  9. quori Says:

Blogs are for individuals to express how they feel. They have their freedom of speech and i don’t see why some of you people have to comment on singapore in a way that doesn’t sound good just because of these two individuals who have their own set of thinking.
If it’s only based on only these 2 bloggers that made you to comment such stuff on singapore then you prolly have to read up more news to get to know more about singapore.

  10. diana Says:

why should xiaxue (or anyone) apologize to you and why should you ask her to?

who are you to even ask that?

  11. monz Says:

To all u guys/gals who complaint so much abt xiaxue :

    Take it or Leave it!
    Like it or Hate it!
Not happy of what u read?? see the small ‘x’ on top right corner of ur window? CLICK IT!!

o! and don come back again to read watever she posted then u wont have to waste ur time writtin comments! get a live.. Its VIRTUAL le!! idiots… haiz..

  12. lil'vampire Says:

you should just stick a tampon in your mouth. and seriously when has that chinese news paper have an good and rightly written articles. if you want an apology, it is you saying it to xiaxui!

  13. winnie Says:

    dear Myrick,

u probably have a small dick tat can’t even erect so pls stuff tat small dick of urs into ur stinky mouth! get a life!

  14. kit fan Says:

    Myrick,

    hahah

u like the nudes pics dun u… is that the real reason u support SPG (or seemingly in ur post)?

Haiz. Another sexual media victim. YOU.

  15. barffie Says:

Here comes the foul-mouthed, immature Xiaxue sheep bombing your blog. They obviously have nothing to do.

  16. kit fan Says:

    hahah

I admit i have nothing better to do.

    But dont you too? (jack***)
    hahah

  17. dukebluedevil Says:

come on xiaxue fans, you’re preaching to the converted about how blogs are supposed to be an individual’s right.

Dark gal and quori (amongst others), must also recognize that this blog owner has as much right (as you so proudly champion) to comment on Xiaxue or whomever he/she wants. just as Xiaxue had the right to (insultingly, I might add) comment on SPG’s breasts. And YOU have the right to comment in this particular space as well.

The difference for me is tact and taste.

Get the big picture? The set of rules apply to everyone.

and my parting shot is, dark gal, The Straits Times and Lianhe Wanbao or the media for that matter never have a “neutral stance”. That’s what they all want you to believe. what is objectivity anyway?

  18. Lina Says:

Are u crazy? Are you like SPG’s father or something? If its offensive to SPG, i don’t think she needs you to fight her battles for her anyway.

You are just poking your nose in matters that do not concern you at all.

  19. dark gal Says:

ok..my last comment because this is getting pretty pointless, since we are all gg down to the freedom of speech.

kit fan, i totally agree with you, but what i mean is all of us can comment, but not to the extent of demanding an apology or making demands.afterall, as xiaxue and spg can comment on issues, myrick does too.But to demand an apology is going abit far, no?

Staits times and Lian he zao bao are governmental newaspapers..no doubt politically, it is biased and even in some other aspects too.But they are also the more factual ones compared to others like lian he wan bao.Did you, by any chance, expect a totally neutral magazine/newspaper in any other country? I don’t think they exist, just like the phase “freedom of speech” because it is always a paradox in itself. There is no conditions being set on that. But that’s my opinion. You don’t have to agree.

  21. dark gal Says:

oops.sorry copmuter error.dun mean to put up 2 copies.

  22. Somebody Says:

Hey people, you all are getting out of topic. What’s wrong with her writting, what’s wrong with posting her own comments on her OWN blog. That’s human rights, aren’t they?

It’s just like you posting on your own blog, commenting on someone that you don’t like. The only difference between you and xiaxue is that she’s famous and you’re not. So whatever she posts is not right. Is that what you guys are trying to say?

But aren’t you all not being understanding? Yup, perhaps she did wrong stuff, wrong comments on her blog but i really think that that’s her own freedom. She’ve all the right to do that on her OWN BLOG.

Not being offensive, let’s mind our own business, can we?

  23. et Says:

come on now ppl who hasn’t tried bitching abt others in their blogs? juz that some are more vocal than the others and well some set password, for protection, or something.. and as darkgal said of which i can’t agree more, the only difference, is that she’s FAMOUS and we’re NOT! face it, famous ppl are under constant scrutiny from the public (think beckham) and not until the reason for him/her to not be famous exists (think beckham 50 yrs later) he/she will maintain to be a ‘public property’, in some sense! n yes the reason for xiaxue to be famous is partly for her writing, which i personally think is extremely bo liao in a funny sense, and thats what captures the attention of the public!i for one has always been fascinated by the fact that she can write simple, yet present her emotions with such clarity. there are obvious flaws in what she says but well, its only human to feel emotions, may it be envy, jealousy, or wadeva u say, it is NATURAL for her to feel wadeva she feels! and no one has the right to take away her right of expressing her emotions =) n yeah chris? i wouldn’t mess ard with her if i were u :P she’s got a LARGE fan base ;)

  24. Tweety Says:

Hey, if u want to insult me kindly do so properly. The words is SUCK. Tweety you suck! Not Tweety you sux. The latter means nothing. Anyway, with papers like TNP circulating and supposedly representing the grassroots and heartlander life, it’s no flippin’ wonder soap opera blogs are becoming popular. Cheap INDEED!!!!

  25. FUCK UP Says:

lol….is ppl blog la…she say wad ur business ar….XIAXUE RAWKS!!!!
wadeva she say do not concern u SO SHUT DE FUCK UP

  26. reprise Says:

i’m ambivalent on which pisses, and amuses, me more, xiaxue’s blog (and her), or her crass fans.

    -roll eyes-

  27. Mad Says:

Oh so whoever is on xiaxue’s side is her fan now?

    Talk bout being shallow.

I personally feel that they can say whatever they want to in their own blog, whether it’s SPG or Xiaxue or anybody else for that matter.

Dun be crass bout it just dun read it let alone demand an apology.

  28. reprise Says:

nope, not everybody on xiaxue’s side should be tarnished with the label of being ‘her fan’.

That was never stated, your derision at my being ’shallow’ is unfounded. What I was referring to, though not explicitly, are the homers, quote:

“she say wad ur business ar….XIAXUE RAWKS!!!! wadeva she say do not concern u SO SHUT DE FUCK UP”

“u probably have a small dick tat can’t even erect so pls stuff tat small dick of urs into ur stinky mouth! get a life!”

who add no value to the discussion whatsoever, but merely add to the mud on their idol’s name.

Certainly, free speech dictates that it is within xiaxue’s rights to make known her own opinion especially on her blog, by that same token, myrick has similar authority to air his displeasure.

While xiaxue can refuse and/or ignore myrick’s request (or demand) as such, to do so would further demonstrate the lack of etiquette, as well as the uncouthness pervading her writing.

  29. thinger Says:

thumbs up to myrick and his valid points.

thumbs up to xiaxui’s fans for showing that they can not only debate ideas irrationally, but are also stupid.

thumbs up to xiaxui for her opinions. while i know everyone is entitled to their own opinion, its just that her’s are fucking dumb.

    definately thumbs up to sarongpartygirl.

  30. thinger Says:

    FUCK UP said:
“lol….is ppl blog la…she say wad ur business ar….XIAXUE RAWKS!!!!
wadeva she say do not concern u SO SHUT DE FUCK UP”
    ================
try going to school. you might actually learn to use english correctly if you’re lucky and havent inherited the homozygous recessive genes of stupidity from your parents.

after trying to decode your almost imcomprehensible prose, i personally think you should practice what you preach. its not your webpage either, whatevers going on here definately doesn’t concern you, so how about you shut the fuck up and piss off yeah?

  31. Banned Commenter Says:

“IT’S A FREE COUNTRY” No it’s not - it’s a website that I pay for. Besides, I checked your IP and you are posting from Singapore - you actually don’t have the right to free speech. You’re obviously watching too much American television, It’s given you strange ideas.
“.. and that anyone can damn well say what they … want to anywhere. ” - Ha! No they can’t! And I just proved it by deleting your comment! OB markers, deal with it. (Ap)

  32. hG Says:

i juz realized i have been trolled.

  33. thinger Says:

seriously, what is the world coming to with deleting posts?

  34. ap Says:

I pay for the site. Property rights trump free speech. You may have the right to say whatever you want, but you don’t have the right to come into my home and start flinging insulting curse words at the other guests.
I don’t use excessive cursing on the main page so there is no reason for me to allow it in the comments - although I’ve let such things go unchecked for most of this thread.
I have said that I will delete comments, particularly anonymous ones, for any reason. Still, thinger, as the comment was directed at you, I’ve sent you a copy by email.
‘Fugly’ isn’t among the base audience that I’m trying to attract. Allowing that sort of comment to linger here will only deter intelligent readers. He or she can still exercise free speech by posting foul sub-literate rants elsewhere.

  35. reprise Says:

i’m an excellent troll =) spent much time honing it from place to place. Wait… was that directed at me? :/

  36. thinger Says:

eh whats going on, excuse this half drunk stupor.

whos in singapore and is it me thats getting rapped for something?

  37. Cadence Says:

Enough said,I’m a loyal reader of XiaXue’s blog and from what I can tell from her she isn’t someone as bad as described by YOU DUMB PPL siding SPG.No offence though, but I think XiaXue runs flat over SPG.

    Shame on you,losers.

  38. One Little Twit Says:

I am with myrick on this. And yes Cadence you are probably right. XX does run flat over SPG’s bustiness.

  39. Dave Lucas Says:

Xiaxue and SPG were no doubt inspired by Mu Zimei.
Xiaxue engages in a playful kiddie-porn look and feel, while SPG took it to soft-porn in her bid for attention. New kid in town is Sister FuRong. If you check my blog and scroll through you’ll find at least ten posts dedicated to the likes of Xiaxue and company. They’re all in it for fame and fortune, certainly not for social engineering!

  40. Tweety Says:

And what about you Mr Lucas? What are you in it for? Trying to make the world a better place are we?

  41. Dave Lucas Says:

Tweety, I don’t know if anyone CAN make the world a better place. A group might have better success than a band of one. The Asian blogging scene is so very different from that here in North America. The accent in Asia seems to be more on personalities, while in the US it is more on news and politics. I mix everything up and toss it on my blog, as you may see if you visit. I do not expect fame nor fortune to come form it, nor do i expect to make any great strides in social engineering. I’m just riding it until the wheels fall off… I’m coming over to visit YOUR blog now! Cheers!

  43. XiaXueSux Says:

Perhaps XiaXue’s fans should checkout xialanxue.blogspot.com . It’s really funny for some of the posts.

And I agree that XiaXue is losing out. Look at her new entry. What has her cousin’s wedding got to do with her? My, I hate weddings.

“Sorry lar, I know it is very little… Machiam let you smell KFC but cannot eat. I promise, promise, upon my divine perfection, to blog more tonight. If I can get the photoshop CD.”

Now her favourite word is machiam. Lol, what’s that suppose to mean anyway? And i believe she is a racist. And if you read her blog last time, you would have notice those remarks made by her.

And SPG rawks!! Not XX. She have lots of stupid supporters who use the same words like, “ur jealous of her”, “if you don’t like her, don’t read her blog”. HaHa, I don’t like her but im still reading her blog. You can’t stop me!! Mwahahahaha..

  44. Xiaxue(my idol :))) Says:

I mean… CAN YOU STOP INSULTING XIAXUE?
    she rawks my SOCKS off..
she is cool and i LOVE her posts
    IF YOU NOT HAPPY…
I SUGGEST EU GET OUT OF THE SITE AND DISAPPEAR FOREVER
