I don’t have any problems accessing Gmail here in Beijing (WIFI on a roving laptop). But things were really spotty about six months ago.

This doesn’t surprise me. When I was in China from July to August, I couldn’t use my Gmail account about 70% of the time. I WAS able to use my Yahoo! account even though it contained (what I thought was) some politically sensitive material. Go figure. . .
